Tanglewood Nature Center & Museum
Our Mission
To lead and support educational and other efforts in our region to achieve a heightened awareness, understanding, enjoyment, and caring for our natural environment.
Hike...
our trails. Two sites, featuring miles of nature trails, offer distinct habitats and a wide variety of wildlife. Gleason Meadows, Coleman Avenue - 172 acres of meadow, deciduous woods, and ponds. Gleason Meadows joining Frenchman's Bluff, "forever wild" habitat managed by the Nature Conservancy and includes spectacular views of the Chemung River valley from the bluffs.
Learn...
about nature. Our 125-seat auditorium presents environmental education that encompasses the world of nature and our role as a vital link in the web of life. Summer Ecology Workshops and other classes involve children in hands-on, adventure-based learning. Member benefits include education programming such as winter, spring break and summer camps and special "Members Only" events several times throughout the year.
Experience....
the "Chemung Valley Web of Life." Our museum encourages you to become part of nature. This interactive immersion in the sights and sounds of the deep forest, wetland meadow, pond, river, riverine forest, and old field meadow allows you to experience the environment in a unique way. Visit our displays of live native reptiles and amphibians, including the endangered Eastern Timber Rattlesnake.

and enrich your life. Opportunities abound for volunteer positions in education, animal care, gift shop sales, membership and reception, fund-raising, and special events. Lend your talents and help Tanglewood carry out its mission.
