TD Ameritrade Park
The Metropolitan Entertainment & Convention Authority (MECA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that builds and manages public venues in Omaha, Nebraska. After a vote of approval from the citizens of Douglas County in May 2000, MECA formed to construct and operate CenturyLink Center Omaha. Formal operations commenced on August 25, 2000 with the signing of a 99-year Lease and Development Agreement with the City of Omaha. CenturyLink Center Omaha opened in September 2003.
At the City's request, MECA assumed operations of the Omaha Civic Auditorium in July of 2004. In January 2009 MECA broke ground for TD Ameritrade Park Omaha. The stadium is home to the NCAA Division I Men's College World Series, the Creighton Bluejays men's baseball team, the Omaha Nighthawks professional football team and host to numerous other events. MECA also manages the Red Sky Music Festival, held each July outdoors in the stadium and on the festival grounds.
