Terre Haute Children's Museum
The History of the Terre Haute Children's Museum
The Terre Haute Children's Museum opened its doors in 1988 in the basement of the Central Christian Church. Since its early beginnings, it has more than doubled in size and has educated over 230,000 adults and children from over 22 counties in Indiana and Illinois. The Museum's reach extends far beyond its doors by serving the Wabash Valley schools with traveling exhibits focused on weather and space. The Museum has been the recipient of National Science Foundation Funding. It also participates in a national consortium of 14 science and technology museums.
The Old National Bank Science Store is located on the first floor of the museum and features a variety of unique science-related books, toys, gadgets, and games, as well as a selection of fun gift items that help bring the amazing, wondrous world around us to life!
The Terre Haute Children's Museum does not allow outside food or beverages on the premises. Outside cakes or cupcakes are allowed for those who book a party room for their event. Our food vendor, Louise's Downtown Café, has a full menu available for purchase in the museum, and an extensive catering menu for all of your birthday party, field trip and special event needs.

Birthday Parties
At the Terre Haute Children's Museum, we know that birthday parties are a big deal! There's no better way to make the day special than by hosting a Museum birthday party. Your child and all of your guests will have a great time, and since the Museum provides all the fun, you'll have a great time too!
Birthday parties include museum admission for you and your guests (guests include adults and children) and the use of a private party room for one hour. You are welcome to decorate your party room and bring your own themed cake or cupcakes for your party. The Museum staff will set up tables, chairs and trash cans, and when the party is over, will clean up and tear down.
Look at our Birthday Party Flyer for more information!
