What wine goes with "Sideways"? Which beer is best with "The Blues Brothers"? These are the decisions you'll make at the Art. We serve wine, beer, and liquor at our shows. Come join us for a refreshingly different way to watch a movie.
Our Menu
Our popcorn is locally grown in Central Illinois and we pop it in low fat canola oil. However, if you want butter topping, we have that, too.
In addition to popcorn, candies and Pepsi drinks, we also feature these treats:
- Cookies and Brownies from Pekara Bakery (voted C-U's best cookie!)
- Delicious coffee and fresh-brewed Iced tea from the Columbia Street Roastery
- Gourmet hot chocolate and a selection of excellent teas
- Healthier options nuts and fruit snacks
- Flavored waters
- And, of course, our "one dollar water" (bottles of water for just a buck!)
Ticket Prices
Ticket prices vary for different types of shows: Ballet, Opera, and Dramatic Theatre performances have different prices than our movies. Our regular movie ticket prices are:
- Matinee (show starting before 6 PM): $7
- Adult: $9
- Student: $7 (If you are a student, please be prepared to show your student ID card.)
- Senior (60 and older): $6
- Child (16 and younger): $6
Late Night Movies
- Late Night Movies: $3, $5, or $7
Special Event Late Night Movies different pricing based on the way we get the film. Archive 35mm prints are usually $5, while most digital shows and recent 35mm films are $3. New releases that we cannot discount are $7.
Our Ballet ticket prices are:
- Adult: $15.00
- Student: $13.50 (If you are a student, please be prepared to show your student ID card.)
- Senior (60 and older): $13.50
- Child (16 and younger): $13.50
Our Opera and Dramatic Theatre ticket prices are:
- Adult: $20.00
- Student: $18.00 (If you are a student, please be prepared to show your student ID card.)
- Senior (60 and older): $18.00
- Child (16 and younger): $18.00
Late Night Movies
On Friday, Saturday, and Thursday nights at 10 PM, join us for a classic, a "recent classic", an overlooked gem, or a "so bad it's good" flick. Late Night Movies have special features like pre-movie short films, 2 Minute Theater (see below), and various food specials. They also feature our discounted prices.
You might know some of the Late Night Movies, but others will be new favorites waiting to be discovered. We break it down like this:
- If you've never seen it, make sure you see it on the big screen.
- If you've only seen it on TV, then come see it the way it's meant to be seen.
- If you've seen the film and love it, then bring some friends to share it with them!
2 Minute Theater
Before our Late Night Movies, we have "2 Minute Theater". This is the opportunity for anyone to introduce the film and explain why they love it. It's a great time and helps everyone get excited about the film.
There are only two rules for 2 Minute Theater:
- No cursing, and
- NO PLOT SPOILERS!
If you're interested in giving an introduction, contact us in advance of the showing. We do it on a "first come, first served" basis, so contact us early!
A Green Theater
We try to run the Art in an environmentally responsible manner. Some of the ways we do this are:
- We strive to recycle 100% of the bottles that we serve. (You can help us putting bottles in the right receptacle). We also recycle the cardboard from all the boxes we receive.
- We use popcorn bags made from recycled paper, not boxes or tubs. Bags take up much less space at the landfill than tubs, plus they use a lot less pulp for construction.
- We recycle film trailers instead of throwing them away, keeping the film-making chemicals out of our landfills.
- Our alcohol is served in corn-based cups, instead of plastic. These cups are 100% biodegradable.
