Welcome to the Arts Block!

Want to hear excellent, original music by some of today's top emerging artists? Looking for a great place to dance? How about in a beautifully restored, historic, New England building with a fresh and friendly atmosphere and a wooden dance floor? Would you like to relax with friends in a spacious and vibrant place, where great music, great art and great libations meet?

Then you've come to the right place: The Arts Block - New England's "Main Street" for new, original music from today's top emerging artists!

Fine Art & Live Music in Greenfield, MA ... classes, workshops and private lessons for a variety of instruments, voice performance and recording technology.

Wonderfully renovated in December 2008, the Arts Block is a 550-person performance venue and restaurant. The building will also house offices, artist work spaces, galleries, and classrooms for performing arts instruction.

In 1869 George Arms built the Arms Block, a 17,000 square foot, four-story building at the crossroads in the center of Greenfield Mass. It was a mall with a hardware and supply store, a clothing store, a medical office, printing company and more. Fast-forward to the present and the building has been transformed into the Arts Block.

On the street level is the Arts Block Café, our primary performance space. With space for up to 445 guests, the Café offers an intimate environment, where you can get close to the music, close to your friends, and yet still not feel crowded. The Arts Block Café is also where we record live performances for broadcast on TV, Radio, the Internet and beyond. A roomy, wooden dance floor will please your feet while the huge windows give you a great view of downtown Greenfield, a thriving, postcard-perfect New England town.

Downstairs is the Wheelhouse, a wonderful, "rathskeller" style room with great character and a more urban vibe. The Wheelhouse accommodates up to 110 people. When things get going in the Wheelhouse, the energy gets very intense, very quickly!

Upstairs is the Fourth Floor at the Arts Block, a tremendous open loft with 3 story ceilings and a bird's-eye view of downtown Greenfield. This is a very flexible space, from concerts and plays to conferences to art installations to use as a video soundstage.

Through the Arches from the café you step across the ocean into The Queen of Cups Tea Shop --- a real British tea shop where you can have a fine tea and scone or just a great cup of coffee or expresso with one of there specialty cookies or cakes.

The Arts Block has a full liquor license and can cater events of all kinds. The Arts Block Café has a professional sound system with PA, monitors and a twenty four channel sound board.

Across the street is the Pushkin Theater, an amazing old New England converted bank building with a 3 story, marble atrium and acoustics similar to those at St. John the Divine in New York City. You can hear a great classical concert here, or some cutting edge music.

The Pushkin is also home to a first class art gallery and recording studio - all under one roof. It has multiple spaces for rent from the wood paneled conference room which seats twenty, to the main gallery that seats 120. Our recording studio is where we help develop and produce many of the acts that perform at the Arts Block, as well as work with local clients.

Both buildings feature extensive Green construction techniques including geothermal heating. They are also completely handicapped accessible.

Between our two buildings, we offer a wide variety of spaces for rent suitable for events from 5 people to 500. The Arts Block Café and the Wheelhouse have full liquor licenses and complete kitchen facilities. The Pushkin has a beer and wine license. We offer catered packages for most any event. The Arts Block Café has a professional sound system, a Steinway grand piano, and built-in multi-track recording.
