The Children's Museum
MISSION STATEMENT
The Mission of The Children's Museum is to enrich the lives of people in the region by fostering a lifelong love of learning through enjoyable interactive programs and exhibits that bring out the imagination in every child and the child in every visitor.
OBJECTIVES
- To provide hands-on educational experiences to children of all ages
- To create and provide interactive traveling exhibits and teaching kits for use in area classrooms
- To extend educational outreach services to the region
- To involve the community in all aspects of the Children's Museum
- To seek and develop resources to maintain the activities of the Children's Museum
WHO: The Children's Museum is a rural non-profit corporation and is run by staff, volunteer committees, and a Board of Directors. Working from the Bloomsburg area, the committee has developed a hands-on museum with travelling exhibits that serve 17 school districts in the 5 county Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit area. The Children's Museum has sponsored an Art and Science Center since 1996 to serve the region, and has had a permanent location since 2002.
- SERVICE AREA: Open year round to all, but the Museum primarily draws visitors from the ten surrounding counties. Travelling Classroom Kits are offered with free delivery to schools within the five county CSIU service area.
