Valley Forge National Historical Park

Valley Forge was the site of the 1777-78 winter encampment of the Continental Army. The park commemorates the sacrifices and perseverance of the Revolutionary War generation and honors the ability of citizens to pull together and overcome adversity during extraordinary times.

Welcome to Valley Forge National Historical Park! Whether you are a frequent visitor to the park or looking to make your first journey here, some extra planning will go a long way for a more enjoyable and safer national park experience. From guided tours to recreational hikes, visitors to Valley Forge have a variety of options for enjoying the park year-round. Daily throughout the summer season and weekends during the spring and fall visitors can enjoy guided walking tours, living history demonstrations, trolley tours, and more. Year-round options for touring the park include a self-guided 10-mile driving tour, step-on tours (reserved in advance for a fee), and recreational use on nearly 30 miles of designated trail. Trails are open daily (weather dependent) from 7 a.m. to dusk.

Valley Forge and its partners offer a multitude of special events and programs each year, from annual commemorations to guest lectures, and from children's educational activities to volunteering events. Field Trips and Education Programs

The Interpretation and Education Team offer both classroom and field trip style education programs from October through May and host two Home School Day programs at the park each year. Visit our For Teachers page to learn more about these programs and request one for your students.
