Vive Les Arts Theatre

Vive Les Arts is a non-profit community theatre in Killeen, one hour northwest of Austin, Texas. We provide quality, live performance, programming for adults and families year around. We have been an established community organization since 1976 and continue to enrich our community with cultural arts.

Mission

The VIVE LES ARTS SOCIETE is dedicated to excellence in the fine arts and to enriching the cultural experience of the citizens of Central Texas through quality presentations.

The Vive Les Arts Children's Theatre Season for 2012 - 2013 will include: A Christmas Story, Oliver!, Missoula International Children's Theatre Tour and our Young Actors Workshop.

OUR HISTORY

Vive Les Arts Societe was founded July 20th 1976 by eight local couples whose main goal was to enhance the community's quality of life through artistic endeavors and to promote artistic and cultural values. They fulfilled this commitment by sponsoring several performances by the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra and other concert artists.

In 1980 the Societe found its first home in the Texas Theatre, an old movie house built in 1914 located on Avenue D in downtown Killeen. Volunteers gathered to help renovate the movie house into a quaint 250 seat theatre and named it Vive Les Arts Theatre. Now with a new home, VLA presented six shows the first year and produced a total of 11 successful seasons.

In June of 1984, dreams started to become reality when VLA was able to lease a six acre parcel from the City of Killeen located on South W.S. Young Drive in the hopes of one day building their own facility.

In January 1991, due to the generosity of many local donors, foundations and the City of Killeen, Vive Les Arts Societe was able to build and move into our current home. This new building allowed VLA to uphold its mission by producing its own culturally enriching performances with its 400 seat house with an expansive proscenium stage, spacious lobby/art gallery and Administrative offices for staff members.

Since then VLA has produced 20 fantastic seasons of shows, adhering to our promise to the community that was made on that warm July day back in 1976: The VIVE LES ARTS SOCIETE is dedicated to excellence in the fine arts and to enriching the cultural experience of the citizens of Central Texas through quality presentations.
