Progress is the new word in Waterloo these days.This northeastern Iowa city, located on the banks of the picturesque Cedar River, is in the process of finishing up a complete facelift, transforming downtown into a brand new family adventure. Already famous for being one of the State's foremost historic towns, Waterloo is introducing a number of redevelopment projects.

Waterloo has many great venues to hold your event, whether it be a family, class, or military reunion. There are many events and opportunities for your group to do while they are town. Arts & Culture

Waterloo is a vibrant cultural destination. Downtown Waterloo has been designated a cultural district and is home to museums and fantastic art. Downtown Waterloo is home to the new Sullivan Brothers Iowa Veterans Museum, which is part of the Grout Museum District; the Phelps Youth Pavilion and the Waterloo Center for the Arts; and the National Wrestling Hall of Fame Dan Gable Museum. Throughout the community, you will see evidence of Waterloo's deep cultural diversity and events that showcase that diversity to visitors and residents alike.

Sports & Recreation

Waterloo and the greater Cedar Valley area feature wonderful sports and recreation opportunities. We are home to spectator sports including intercollegiate athletics, hockey and baseball. Waterloo offers participatory sports and fantastic sports venues. Outdoor recreation including affordable golf, nearly 100 miles of paved recreation trails, and canoeing/kayaking is all available within the community. Other family-friendly offerings include local, county and state parks, and a fantastic nature center.
