WESTSIDE CHURCH OF CHRIST

Thank You! Your rating has been saved.

Welcome!

We are a local group of Christians (Acts 11:26) who, having obeyed the gospel of Jesus Christ from the heart (Romans 6:17-18), worship God and cooperate to accomplish those things the Lord has given us to do as a local community of saints. In eagerness to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace (Ephesians 4:1-6), we are not affiliated with any denominational body or organization. We are determined to have the Scriptures as our only standard of faith (Romans 10:17; 2 Timothy 3:16-17).

What to Expect When You Visit Us

Perhaps you are hesitant to attend the worship assembly or Bible study of a church with which you are unfamiliar. We can understand why this might be a bit intimidating. To help alleviate any apprehensions you may have about visiting, allow us to explain what you can expect.

First, feel free to sit anywhere you like. We do not have exclusive pews for anyone. Expect to be greeted with courtesy and kindness. We want our practice to be an echo of what Peter said in Acts 10:34-35, "In truth I perceive that God shows no partiality. But in every nation whoever fears Him and works righteousness is accepted by Him."

Our Only Guide-The Bible

It is our conviction that the gospel of Christ is the power God uses to save those who will believe it (Romans 1:16). The only book to which you will find repeated reference in our sermons and classes is the Bible. You will not be expected to believe anything just because some man said something was true. When teaching is done, we simply ask all who are present to follow the example of the fair-minded people in Acts 17:11, who "received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so." This is why we not only encourage you to bring your Bible, but also make them available. If you do not own a Bible, let us know and we will give you one.

Orderly and Appropriate

Do not expect to be confused by many people speaking or praying at the same time. Our worship is orderly and appropriate to glorifying God who "is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints,"1 Corinthians 14:33. We do not try to embarrass anyone into doing anything, although we do challenge everyone to obey God. (cf. 1 Corinthians 14:40)
