World of Energy

Thank You! Your rating has been saved.

Located at Oconee Nuclear Station in Seneca, South Carolina, Duke Energy's World of Energy is an exciting way to learn about electricity in a fun, interactive environment.

The World of Energy opened in July 1969 while the nuclear power plant was still being built. Visitors could stand on the balcony of the visitor's center and observe the construction of all three reactors. Since that time, more than three million people have passed through the doors of the World of Energy.

Individuals and large groups can easily spend hours visiting. Admission is free and there is plenty of parking available. Whether learning how electricity is produced, exploring the great outdoors, or enjoying a picnic along the shores of Lake Keowee, there truly is something for everyone.

Whether you're looking to fill an hour or an entire afternoon, The World of Energy has plenty to keep you entertained. Many guests enjoy starting with the educational exhibits located inside our visitors center. From there, you can wander through the butterfly garden or take a walk along our nature trail. You can even end with lunch in the picnic shelter, located along the beautiful shores of Lake Keowee. Click through the links below to explore all The World of Energy has to offer.

More than three million people have visited the World of Energy, and we'd love for you to be our next guest! We can easily accommodate small families or large groups; and, once here, there are plenty of fun and exciting things to see and learn. We are open six days a week and close for just a few holidays each year.
