Thank You! Your rating has been saved.

Children's Museum of the Highlands - a delightful place to play located in downtown Sebring Florida. Opened in 1990, the museum has been THE site for fun and learning for Central Florida for generations of children.

Our mission statement:

The Children's Museum of the Highlands purpose is to provide a safe area for children (ages 1 - 12) to learn and explore. Through exhibits and on going programs the museum hopes to provide ways for kids to enhance their curiosity, develop their imagination and learn about a variety of experiences. It is hoped that the children will see the museum as a fun place to play and leave the museum with the knowledge that learning can be fun. They will see that the opportunity to learn is everywhere and hopefully they will use the knowledge as they grow.

Exhibit Information

Some of the fun you will encounter at The Children's Museum of the Highlands include:

ONE WORLD DINER

This enchanting environment allows visitors of all ages to pretend to cook serve and eat a variety of ethnic foods from all around the world. Wearing traditional costumes from the different areas, participants can serve falafel, tacos, pizza and more all in a realistic diner setting.

MINI GROCERY STORE

Choosing foods and filling a cart may not be fun to adults, but children love the opportunity to make their own decisions and even ring up their purchases on real cash registers with working conveyor belt systems. Of course there is museum money to play with and use for shopping and even making a deposit at the nearby mini bank.

WATERWORKS

Water play is fun and only a little damp in this area. Visitors can play with a running river, using dams to float boats and ducks. At one end, use the water shooters to make mobiles move and twirl. Aprons are provided to help keep you dry. What kind of waterpower can you harness?

THE ROCK WALL

Boulder climbing is a harder version of traditional rock climbing. Use our rock wall and try to climb 16' sideways without ever touching the ground. You don't need to go up - just sideways - it's harder than it looks!

EYE TRICKS

You won't believe your eyes as you wander through this area. From mirror images to holograms to finding hidden items, your eyes will be tricked into believing what can't be possible - or is it? The exhibit, designed for ages 6 and up, provides an opportunity for children and adults to draw an anamorphic picture, try their hand at mirror writing, and see themselves in a magic fun mirror.
