Thank You! Your rating has been saved.

The Laurel County Public Library will provide dynamic learning opportunities for citizens of all ages and educational levels by maintaining a comprehensive materials collection, state-of-the-art technology, and innovative programs designed to stimulate imagination and cultivate thought.

The Laurel County Public Library grew from the initial circulating library formed by the Ladies of the First Christian Church in 1916. These women were active throughout the community and after several years of dedicated work, built a library in 1932. The building was located on Fourth Street in London. It was staffed by volunteers from the London Woman's Club.

The library won the "Build Kentucky" Award in 2004 and is heavily used. An average of 25,000 users visit the library each month and roughly 45,000 items are circulated monthly.

The collection consists of more than 120,000 books and 10,000 A-V items. There are 40 computers for public use systemwide. Programs of interest to adults and children are conducted every week.

The Laurel County Public Library continues to be an attribute to the community, and source of great enjoyment and pride for the region.
