Paris Texas Main Street
Looking for a quaint place to visit, loaded with outstanding architecture, art galleries, history, parks, quirky little shops, fine fare and friendly faces? Then look no further, downtown Paris has all of it and more. Stroll down to Bywaters Park, located two blocks south of downtown. Look for summer concerts and a Winter wonderland held in the park annually. The Farmers Market on SW 1st Street has fresh produce and plants during the summer months. Take in some history at the Sam Bell Maxey Home located in the Church Street residential historic district and the Lamar County Historical Museum just east of the Chamber of Commerce.
In its tenth year as a Texas Main Street city, downtown Paris continues to experience rapid growth and ever increasing community support. Several new businesses have opened downtown including a bakery, crafts supply, pharmacy, café, numerous gift shops and several art galleries. Lofts have certainly played a vital role in the downtown revitalization. Eleven lofts are currently occupied with an additional four lofts undergoing renovation. The Paris Historic Preservation Commission and Paris Main Street continue to support commercial and residential district growth through a façade grant program and a tax exemption program.
